If you're one of the millions of fans who saw "The Incredible Hulk" this past weekend, you know all about the ingenious seeding accomplished by director Louis Leterrier and writer Zak Penn, who set-up not one, not two, but three future "Hulk" villains: Doc Samson, The Leader, and (spoiler alert) The Abomination, who the Hulk doesn't kill at the end of the first film.
What we didn't tell you was that it was actually up to you.
"I think that if we get to ‘Hulk 2' I would go to Comic-Con and ask the crowd of people that actually love the movies, which one would you prefer to see, Samson or the Leader?" Leterrier told MTV News.
For his part, Leterrier said that he would prefer The Leader, on the grounds that a face-off between him and the Hulk would be a different sort of smash-fest than the climactic battle of the first film.
"Both are very interesting. [But] there's something unstoppable about [Leader] and it's just not the same thing. It's just different," he said of the super-brilliant character played in the film by Tim Blake Nelson. "The fact that he controls stuff with his mind, I just like that."
But even given his own preferences, Leterrier isn't about to trump the will of the fans, he insisted.
"I'm 34 soon to be 35. Kevin [Feige] is 35. We're the same age as the fans. It's not like we don't know what we're doing [but] they are the reason why these movies successful - why we make these movies," he proclaimed. "I would listen to the fans."
So now it's up to you. Who would you want the Hulk to face in a second film? The Leader or Doc Samson? What if the Leader was able to control The Abomination, bringing him back as well? Sound off on your thoughts below.
(And remember, before we get to "Hulk 2," there's the little matter of a movie called "The Avengers." Leterrier thinks Hulk should be the villain in that movie. Help us sort it all out with your opinions on that here.)
