Jack Black Will Only Make 'School of Rock 2’ With Richard Linklater, Actor Says

For those about to rock ... we salute you.

Three weeks ago, Jack Black told reporters in Cannes that he’d be totally down for a return to the "School of Rock," but made no mention of whether the proposed project would move ahead with original director Richard Linklater.

Well, you can count out Black if you count out Linklater, the comic actor recently told MTV News.

"It would have to be [with Richard]," Black said. "I wouldn't do it without him."

Despite earlier statements to the contrary, however, Black insisted that there wasn't actually a concrete plan for "School of Rock 2." The "Kung-Fu Panda" star would only reveal that "a draft is being written."

"I look forward to reading it. I hope it happens because I had such a great experience the first time, it would be fun to do it again," Black enthused. "I love to rock. I love making movies. So it is kind of like Reese's Peanut Butter Cup, you put the acting and the rock together in a delicious sweet chocolately smash."

Black didn’t reveal whether Mike White would be returning to write the screenplay.
