‘Twilight’ Fans Rejoice As MTV Movie Awards Preshow Coverage Goes International

We know, we know: When you’re a Twilighter, there’s only one thing that bites harder than Stephenie Meyer’s vampires — and that’s being in the U.K. or Canada on a Twilight Tuesday.

It’s a long, complicated matter of copyright that I’d love to explain to you — but there’s a good reason why Larry didn’t go to law school. Instead, I feel your pain every time we post cool new “Twilight” videos like this one, this one, or this one, and our friends in a few international territories get that dreaded “Not accessible outside the U.S.” message.

So, for all of you screaming “Egads, governor!” or “Take off, eh!” I have some very good news. When we premiere the First! Scene! Ever! From “Twilight” at the MTV Movies Awards pre-show (7:30 pm ET) this Sunday, millions of people all over the world will be able to share in our first taste of blood, romance and Robert Pattinson.

The 2008 pre-show will air live not only on good, old-fashioned, American-as-apple-pie MTV, but also on the following international channels: Throughout Europe on MTV Adria, MTV Arabia, MTV Denmark, MTV Estonia, MTV European, MTV Finland, MTV Germany, MTV Hungary, MTV Latvia, MTV Lithuania, MTV Poland, MTV Portugal, MTV Russia, MTV Spain, and MTV Sweden.

The show will also run on MTV Brazil and MTV Canada. If your MTV affiliate isn’t listed, keep in mind that this is only a partial list, and many channels will re-run the program after its initial airing. As the man on the TV says: Check your local listings.

(UPDATE: In response to some of your questions below, I was able to dig up a few answers. Asia and Latin America channels will air the movie awards and preshow, but at a later date; the show will air live on Canal 12 in El Salvador. Finally, Australia and New Zealand will delay their broadcast by a few hours so they can run in primetime – 6pm AUS time/8pm NZ time.)

So, be sure to set your Tivo, DVR or VHS (Seriously? Dude, time to upgrade!) so you can watch and re-watch Stephenie Meyer’s intro, the exclusive scene, and Robert, Kristen and Cam on the red carpet. Whether you’re in the U.S. or anywhere else in this big blue world, simply set your clock to 7:30 pm ET time on Sunday night, and you’re good to go.

Of course, we’ll also be running a lot of the material online after the awards, including the clip itself in glorious HD.

Enjoy the show, and get ready to be dazzled.
