MTV Sneak Peek Week Begins With ‘Zohan’ And Adam Sandler Q&A

While many of you were out BBQ’ing yesterday evening, here in Hollywood we were busy throwing the first of the MTV Sneak Peek Week events. With Adam Sandler in attendance at the historic Mann’s Chinese Theater along with an audience of hundreds, we held a screening of his new comedy, “You Don’t Mess With The Zohan,” which finds Sandler as Israel’s #1 commando who moves to America to pursue his dream of being a hair stylist.

While the movie was entertaining enough, the biggest part of the night came after the lights went up, as Sandler was ushered out for a Q&A session hosted by our own Josh Horowitz. (Read the rest of the report and see more pics after the jump!)

That’s Sandler on the right there as he’s about to walk in front of a packed theater. Donning a heavy down jacket and a half-mohawk/half-mullet hairdo, the comedian was his nervous self at first but loosened up as the crowd gave him a warm opening applause.

Then began a 30-minute question-and-answer session where Josh threw Sandler questions inbetween tossing to fans lined up at a mic. What was the biggest thing Sandler took away from his “Zohan” experience? “The best thing I learned was how to shampoo a lady,” he replied (the film features Sandler giving very seductive routines to his mostly elderly salon clientele).

The session was a hodgepodge of material, with some of the biggest laughs coming when Sandler threw out one of his trademark “little boy” voices in response to whether his mom has seen his ass on screen. Other subjects covered included his eagerness to include his circle of friends in his movies (such as Rob Schneider, who plays a Palestinian cab driver in “Zohan”), cameos in the movie from Dave Matthews and Mariah Carey (would he ever do a duet? “Noooooo, nooooo”), and how “Zohan” will be in constant rotation for the next 15 years in his house so he can show his kids how in-shape he was (he appears bigger than he’s ever been for “Zohan”).

When the Q&A wrapped up, we all headed upstairs where our correspondent (and Movie Awards pre-show co-host) Tim Kash chatted with Sandler for another ten minutes. The highlight? When we surprised the star with his original MTV VJ audition tape (which would net him a gig on “Remote Control”).

We’ll be rolling out video of our Sandler chat soon enough, so stay tuned for that. In the meantime, check back here daily as we’ve got plenty more screenings this week to report on, including Jack Black in “Kung Fu Panda,” Seth Rogen and James Franco in “Pineapple Express,” and tonight’s sneak peek of “Foot Fist Way” with Danny McBride and Will Ferrell in attendance.

And remember, this is all leading up to the 2008 MTV Movie Awards, airing live this coming Sunday at 8pm EST (with the fancy red carpet pre-show beginning at 7:30).
