Five years ago this June, stay-at-home mother Stephenie Meyer had a dream about a teenage girl and a vampire sitting in a meadow; this week, the bestselling author walked among those very fantastical beings.
MTV News has learned that Meyer shot a cameo this week for the upcoming "Twilight" movie, due in theaters December 12th. The American writer, whose subject matter and own personal triumphs are often compared to "Harry Potter" author J.K. Rowling, shot the scene alongside several of the film's young stars, including Kellan Lutz as Emmett Cullen.
Several stars and crew members raved about Meyer's afternoon on the set, and described her cameo as Hitchcock-esque. The legendary "Psycho" director made a habit of dropping into many of his films for blink-and-you'll-miss-him cameos, often as an extra in crowd scenes.
Meyer's cameo takes place at a diner, during a quiet moment. While the filmmakers wouldn't confirm whether she has a line or not, the Alfred Hitchcock comparisons would seem to imply a silent "wink" to her sizeable fanbase.
"Twilight" continues to shoot in Portland, Orgeon, building towards a highly-anticipated release at the end of the year.
