American History XXX: Controversial Director Pushes Snow In 'Black Water Transit'

Brittany SnowA lunatic. Unhinged. Clinically insane... "American History X" director Tony Kaye has been called a lot of names in Hollywood. Brittany Snow, who stars in Kaye's next flick, "Black Water Transit" as a "crazy, schizophrenic prostitute," has a few more.

"I think he's a genius," she enthused to MTV News at the "Hairspray" premiere. "Brilliant."

This is a guy who, for the record, once sued New Line for $275 million because they wouldn't let him use the pseudonym "Humpty Dumpty" on "American History X." A guy who spent $100,000 of his own money to buy ads denouncing star Edward Norton in the trades. So, given all that, it wouldn't be a stretch for you to assume he has a prickly relationship with his actors, right? Wrong, Snow insisted.

"[His] crazy process is that he wants you to do whatever you want - really do whatever you want. I could start singing my ABCs backwards in a swan costume and it's cool if I want to do that," the 21-year-old actress gushed. "He's very open and has that trust which I think is really important. It's really a collaborative process. It's anything goes, and that's what's fun about it."

Based on a book of the same name about a shipment of firearms that goes haywire, "Black Water Transit" is Kaye's first narrative feature in ten years.
