'American Horror Story' Is Officially Coming Back For Season 6

Will Lady Gaga be back, too?

There's surprising news, and then there's FX's announcement that "American Horror Story" will return for a sixth season, which -- due to its record-breaking ratings -- is about as surprising as a thunderstorm in April, or Christmas decorations hitting CVS on November 1. But still, we're pretty dang excited!

“With the sixth installment coming next year, 'American Horror Story' has unquestionably joined the ranks of television’s landmark series,” FX CEO John Landgraf said in a release. “From 'Murder House' to 'Hotel,' 'AHS' has pioneered a new television form as well becoming FX’s highest rated show -- while also pushing every conceivable boundary of creative excellence and audacity. This is even more remarkable because Ryan [Murphy] and co-creator Brad Falchuk tear up the playbook every year, challenging the entire creative team to come up with something even more spectacular, frightful and entertaining. You could not ask more of an artist, their team or a series and with every new installment they deliver.”

It's still unknown whether current series lead Lady Gaga will rejoin the cast after "Hotel," but Murphy has made it quite clear that she's invited. (Duh.)
