MLB Crush Monday: Five Reasons Why New York Met Eric Young, Jr. Is A Genuinely Great Guy

There’s nothing like staring at a man in uniform to kick off the work week, right? In honor of MTV2's new series, “Off the Bat from the MLB Fan Cave,” every Monday we’re putting the spotlight on one of the sexiest sluggers in the game. Here, overall stats, batting averages and team standings don’t completely dictate whether or not a player gets picked — see below for five reasons why this week’s pro made the MLB Crush Monday cut!

New York Mets second baseman and outfielder Eric Young, Jr.

New York Mets star Eric Young, Jr. will surely bring some Big Apple flavor and hometown love to the MLB Fan Cave when he stops by Tuesday night's “Off the Bat." As fellow East Coasters, we must admit, the fact that he's a New Jersey native did win him points in our man-candy pool (we're kinda biased), but here are five even better reasons why Eric deserves this week's "Crush" title.

1. Baseball's in his blood.

His father, Eric Young, Sr. (above, left), played in the majors from 1992-2006 and is now a coach with the Colorado Rockies. Gotta love a guy who's committed to the family business!

2. His faith is his fortune.

Like our resident social media guru, Rev Run, the baseball player also actively posts motivational messages on his Instagram. We dig a dude with depth!

3. Young is young at heart.

The slugger has no problem acting silly with his little cousin, which shows us he doesn't take himself too seriously and he loves kids. Double score!

4. His kissable lips.

Need we say more?

5. He shows up for his fans.

This heartwarming Instavid is EVERYTHING. Would you just look at the smile on that little boy's face?

Check out Eric Young, Jr. on Tuesday night's "Off the Bat," airing at 11/10c on MTV2.
