The "Off the Bat" cast.
Last year, MTV2 signed a deal with Major League Baseball for a talk show that would combine both sports and pop culture, and today, the network broke the news that the weekly, 30-minute series, "Off the Bat from the MLB Fan Cave," will premiere this April, and be hosted from NYC's MLB Fan Cave by some very familiar faces.
One big star on the roster is MTV News correspondent and former "Week In Jams" host Sway, whose natural love of baseball inspired him to come on board. "I got involved with 'Off the Bat' because I love sports," he said in a statement released by the channel. "I grew up playing baseball, football and track."
Sway's certainly got his bases covered when it comes to talking sports and entertainment, and he'll be in very good company, as rap icon and "Hip Hop Squares" player Fat Joe, along with Melanie Iglesias and Chris Distefano of "Guy Code" and "Girl Code," are set to round out the "OTB" team, who will conduct interviews that dive deep into the players' off-the-field interests. "This show is going to be a lot of fun!" Melanie said.
The series' hosts will be joined on set by a whole slew of pros, from all-star Robinson Cano to the Atlanta Braves' Craig Kimbrel, as well as some famous fans. "I'm looking forward to hanging out with them at the Fan Cave the next time I'm in New York," Kimbrel said.
