Elizabeth Berkley Says 'Showgirls' Derailed Her Dance Career

Is Elizabeth Berkley reenacting her "Showgirls" character's signature hand gesture?

Team Chmerkly's incredible throwback to Jessie Spano's caffeine pill freakout was one for the "Dancing with the Stars" record books, but just because the "I'm So Excited" jive was a huge hit, don't expect Elizabeth Berkley to reprise any scenes from her other, infamous acting role.

In a recent Variety interview, Liz explained that her "Showgirls" character, Nomi Malone, is one part she intends to keep in the past, and that the whole experience almost turned her away from dance for good. "I think that because it was so criticized, it was humiliating -- doing anything that was connected to the film was not fun," she said of the box-office bomb. "So I think being able to find a relationship to my dancing, which [is] something I loved, has been healing." And like her competitor, Snooki, whose son Lorenzo serves as motivation to kick ass in the competition, Elizabeth's son, Sky, was the big reason she signed up for "DWTS." "I think having my son returned me to making decisions from a really joyful place," she said. Glad to have you back, girl!
