'True Life' Check-In: Have Amber And Karen Bounced Back From Their Embarrassing Ex-Boyfriends?

This weekend's "True Life" explored the stories of two young women who were fed up with their boyfriends' embarrassing behavior. We had an opportunity to check in with them to find out how their lives have changed since filming wrapped -- take a look at the follow-up Q&As below.

Have you heard from Mickey? If so, how did it go?

Yes, Mickey would text and call sporadically. I usually ignore him, but he would always say something to get a response from me. I'm not sure of his motive for contacting me, but I did let him know that I'm happier now, and wish him well.

How will your relationship with Mickey affect your future relationships? Did dating Mickey help you solidify what you want and don’t want in a boyfriend?

I know what I don't want in a relationship. I don't want to date a guy who drinks, smokes or does drugs. It's a definite red flag.

How is your relationship with your new manager? Are you happy you found new management?

Bucky is great. He is very professional and looks out for my best interest.

How has it affected your career?

It feels like a heavy weight has been lifted off my shoulders. I can now focus on work without stress or liability of having to worry about another person and how he reflects on me.

What was it like sharing your story with us?

Sharing my story was a bit of a roller coaster ride. There were good times as well as lots of bad times, but it was definitely thrilling. The show made me realize there needs to be stability in my life, and I'm glad I was able to walk away without any regrets.

Have you spoken to Jesse? If not, do you plan to reach out to him at some point?

No I haven't had the chance to sit down and talk with Jesse since the breakup. But...I did recently see him at the movies with another woman, and he walked up to me and gave me a casual/formal hug as if we had no previous history, or as if I was just a regular colleague.

Yes, I have tried to reach out to him several times...but to no avail. Jesse always treats me as if I'm a telemarketer and screens my calls.

Were you surprised when Jesse said he couldn't be his true self around you? What do you believe is his true self?

Yes, I was a little taken aback when Jesse said he couldn't be his true self around me. I think he was more concerned about the reaction I would have in regard to seeing him transform into "Jessica White," and he probably thought that I wouldn't support him. I believe that Jesse's true self is just having the best of both worlds. A strong, sexy black woman by his side and the ability to go out clubbing as Jessica to flirt with other men.

Are you enjoying being single and dating?

YES! I Love being single!  But I do miss the companionship and true bond that we once shared.

What was it like sharing your story with us?

Sharing my story was a little invasive in the beginning, because I wasn't used to cameras following me around 24/7. Then I became slightly hesitant about sharing all of my juicy detailed drama due to the fear of how society may view me. Soon after, allowing my love life to play out on camera became second nature, and being able to voice my opinion while sharing my true emotions with the world was like therapy!
