Let’s be honest: Many American families — large and small — tend to champion a single golden child over the rest, often leaving his or her siblings fighting for attention. On the next episode of “True Life,” we’ll meet Dakotah, who is tired of being stuck in the shadow of his brother Jace’s stellar football career. In the sneak peek below, Dakotah struggles to cope with the pressure of matching Jace’s all-conference standing — even though Jace tries to reassure his brother that it’s not the end of the world.
“I don’t think that you should feel like you need to be as good as me,” Jace says. Understandably, the sentiment doesn’t do much to take the edge off for Dakotah who, while watching old videos of his brother’s all-star football games, says getting all-conference is “do or die” — especially since it’s his last year to make the cut. “’Til my name is on that plaque, I’m not gonna be satisfied,” he says.
Take a look at the video, and watch “True Life: I’m Living In My Sibling’s Shadow” tonight at 11/10c, right after an all-new “Real World!”
