Hayley Williams Of Paramore Likens The Woodie Awards To A 'Cool Party' [Video]

With SXSW in full swing, Austin is the place to be this weekend, especially because the mtvU Woodie Awards are airing on the festival's final day. Paramore are no strangers to the Woodies' stage, as they won the Woodie of the Year in 2008, and in this preview clip, the punk rockers share their thoughts on the unique awards show.

"I think it's cool that upcoming artists have a place, and their own, sort of, designated awards show," vocalist Haley Williams says in the video below. The band, fronted by the fiery redhead, has become a chart-topping success since their big win five years ago, but they can still remember how awestruck they felt as newbie nominees. "It really felt like going to a cool party...which, I don't really go to a lot of those," she shares. Not sure that's entirely true, but at least it confirms Ke$ha's sentiment that hanging with the college crowd is a night well spent.

Don't miss the 2013 mtvU Woodie Awards, Sunday, March 17 at 8/7c on MTV & mtvU, featuring performances from ZeddMacklemore & Ryan Lewis and Twenty One Pilots, coming at you from SXSW!
