To say that 2012 was a monumental year for Mac Miller is quite the understatement. Not only did the platinum-selling rapper receive the award for Complex's Man of Next Year and begin filming his MTV2 unscripted series, he also won the highest honor at the 2012 mtvU Woodie Awards: Woodie of the Year. In the 2013 Woodie Awards preview clip below, Mac recalls the moment he accepted the biggest accolade of the evening.
Right after claiming his prize, the "Most Dope" star put on a memorable mash-up performance of some of his greatest hits, including the controversial "Donald Trump" single. "It was an incredible feeling," Mac says of the audience's amped up energy. "I felt like a million dollars. I finally felt like people were saying 'good job' to me."
In the running to follow in Mac's footsteps for 2013's Woodie of the Year are A$AP Rocky, Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros, fun., Grimes, Kendrick Lamar, MGK and Walk The Moon. Vote for your favorite, and don't miss the 2013 mtvU Woodie Awards, Sunday, March 17 at 8/7c on MTV & mtvU, featuring performances from Zedd, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis and Twenty One Pilots, coming at you from SXSW!
