Tattoos Are More Than Just Ink In 'Washington Heights' [Video]

Getting inked is nothing new to the MTV family. From Snooki's new shoulder piece to "Teen Mom 2" cast member Kailyn's in-progress sleeve, we've seen a tat or two travel through these parts. But new MTV blood means a slew of new tats, and in the behind-the-scenes video below, the "Washington Heights" crew talks about why their ink is so important to them.

JP's got a few arm pieces that function as statements about his state of mind. "I just feel like we're not as free as we really think we are," he says of the blind and bound Statue of Liberty on his shoulder. The tiny skateboard Ludwin rocks is a small reminder of his love of skateboarding, even though his brother thinks it looks more like a fish. For Reyna, tattoos are all about keeping memories alive. "It's something that stays with me in my heart and soul for the rest of my life." For more on the rest of the cast's ink, check out the full clip below.
