As you saw during tonight's "Restore the Shore" special, Ronnie, Sammi and their fellow "Jersey Shore" cast members recently visited Seaside Heights to survey the damage caused by Hurricane Sandy, and each of them was overwhelmed by the sight of so much destruction. "It's hard to explain, Ron says in the pre-show interview below. "You see it on television, and you're like, 'Oh, it's not that bad,' but then you're in the rubble...you see the pier you used to walk on, the boardwalk that you have the memories, and it's gone. It really just touches your heart."
Seaside Heights isn't the only ravaged area that Sammi and Ronni have a connection to--Ron's father still can't get into his house, and Sam's hometown in Jersey, which is close to the bay, "got ruined," she says. "There's a lot of people who are still in shelters right now, and need all the help they can get."
Ron's parting words will resonate with anyone struggling to get back on their feet, and who feels they're in it alone: "It's not over," he assures. "We're not gonna forget, and we're going to continue to help."
