Why MENSA Member Ashley Rickards Loves/Hates Chris Colfer

Jenna Hamilton's academic standing at Palos Hills High School is nothing of note, but the actress who plays her, Ashley Rickards, is a certifiable genius! In a recent New York Magazine interview, the "Awkward" star talked about her MENSA status--achievable only by those who test in the world's top 2 percent IQ bracket--and the boyfriend that instigated her membership.

"I was dating a guy at the time who spoke five languages and could solve a Rubik’s Cube," she said. "Being with a person who was very intimidating, it was my way of saying, 'You make me feel like an idiot, but maybe this makes me feel like less of one.'" Ashley also talked about graduating high school at 15, when fans might finally get a hold of her poetry collection and how she simultaneously loves/hates "Glee" star Chris Colfer, who wrote and stars in the upcoming film, "Struck By Lightning."

"I was texting him the other day to say, 'Hey, what’s happening?' and he texts back this list and it’s everything I want to do," she said. "He’s just brilliant. I told him, 'I’m not going to talk to you anymore because you’re everything I want to be and it’s annoying.'"
