MTV Releases Statement About Amber Portwood's Criminal Charges

Reports that police have charged Amber Portwood with domestic violence and battery have flooded the internet today, beginning with an article posted on, which said that the young mom faces up to three years in jail and fines of up to $10,000.

Anderson, Indiana, police filed three criminal charges--two felonies and a misdemeanor--based on a seven-week investigation that was instigated by a "Teen Mom" episode which showed Amber hitting her baby's father, Gary Shirley, several times.
