Tonight's premiere of "Teen Mom" through us all for a loop. Our favorite couple, who clung to each other during their heartbreaking decision to make an adoption plan, appeared to be coming undone. We reached out to Tyler recently to find out what was really going on between him and Catelynn at that point in filming. Check out the brief interview below.
RC: In this episode, you seemed to be getting a little irritated with Catelynn. What exactly were you feeling that started to make you grow distant from her?
Tyler: I wasn’t really feeling distant from Cate. I did realize that we were too young to be living together, and I needed time to confront the ignored feelings of hurt and loss with Carly. I had always been making sure that Catelynn was OK about our decision of adoption before making sure that I was OK. My mom decided it would be best for us if Catelynn moved back home. ... How can you ever miss somebody if they are never gone?
RC: You were always Catelynn’s shoulder to cry on, but now you're the one in need of more support. Why do you think?
Tyler: I never really got to grieve for my daughter. I was more worried about the feelings of my fiancée and making sure she was OK. I then realized that there comes a time in your life when you need to focus on you and your feelings. If you ignore those feelings, they will only be an unresolved weight on your shoulders. You need to learn to love yourself before you can love others.
RC: Did you at any time reconsider being engaged to Catelynn?
Tyler: I didn't reconsider. I knew Catelynn was the one I wanted to be with for the rest of my life. I don't think I could ever not love her. My engagement to her was true, honest and whole. She is very special to me and will always be my angel.
