There's no mistaking it: Damon and Bonnie have major chemistry on "The Vampire Diaries." The more we watched them adjust to their weird new life in the 1994 Prison World last season -- making pancakes and doing crossword puzzles together -- the more we fell in love with their friendship.

Damon and Bonnie had never been best friends. In fact, Bonnie pretty much hated Damon until Season 3. (She hated all vampires, TBH.) But Season 6 changed everything. For the first time we saw Damon and Bonnie work together. They were each other's rocks in the Prison World. Then, upon their release, Damon was faced with an unimaginable decision: save Bonnie and lose Elena for the next 60 years or let Bonnie die and get the love of his life back. In the end, Damon chose Bonnie and that cemented Bamon's friendship as one of our favorite dynamics on the show.

Bonnie is the only one who won't put up with Damon's crap, and frankly, Damon needs a person like that in his life. And Bonnie can't afford to lose another person she cares about. Here are all the times Bonnie and Damon proved that they were the definition of #friendshipgoals:

When Damon tried to steal Bonnie’s necklace.

OK, so Bamon's first major interaction on "TVD" wasn't exactly an affectionate one, as Bonnie and Damon have been, at best, frenemies for most of their relationship on the show. But this Season 1 scene highlighted one of the best things about Bamon's dynamic: Bonnie does not fall for Damon's charms. In it, Damon tried to steal the Bennett Talisman from around Bonnie’s neck to resurrect Katherine, and it burned at his touch -- because Bonnie was NOT having it.

When Damon helped Bonnie find her mother.

This Season 3 scene brought Damon and Bonnie together for a common goal: to find Bonnie's mother. Damon and Bonnie teamed up to convince Bonnie's mom to help them take down Evil Alaric. Even better, this was the moment Damon declared himself Team Bonnie in the fight against evil. This scene proved that Bamon could be so much more than frenemies; they could be legit friends.

When Bonnie and Damon hugged it out.

After Jeremy's devastating death at the hands of Katherine on the Isle of the Cure in Season 4, Damon stayed behind to find Bonnie. When the two finally met up, they shared a relieved hug. This was the beginning of Bamon.

When Bamon made perfect shopping partners.

In Season 6, Damon and Bonnie were stuck in a 1994 Prison World and this was when they started to get really close. In this scene, Damon and Bonnie went grocery shopping for pancake ingredients because you can't be stuck in 1994 and not have pancakes and bourbon every single day. TBH, this was when we started to see the chemistry between Damon and Bonnie. There were major (platonic) sparks between the two of them. Damon's jealousy over Bonnie's nicknaming skills was especially adorable.

"I’m sure there are a million other people..."

With the Other Side collapsing all around them, Damon told Bonnie, "I'm sure there are a million other people we'd rather be here with right now." To which Bonnie joked, "A couple thousand at most." Banter aside, they eventually clasped hands and got sucked into the unknown.

When they prepared to leave the Prison World.

Here's how far Bamon has come throughout the season. In this Season 6 scene, Damon and Bonnie find themselves ready to return to present-day Mystic Falls. But first, they have to head into the unknown once more. "I’m sure there are a billion other people you’d rather be here with," Damon said before the spell could commence. To which Bonnie responded. "Not exactly." Awww!

When Bonnie sacrificed herself to get him home.

Being the most selfless character on "The Vampire Diaries," Bonnie would do anything to help a friend, even if it meant risking her own life and sacrificing her happiness. That's exactly what she did when Kai thwarted Bonnie and Damon's plans to go back to the present. With a arrow sticking out of her stomach, Bonnie was able to pull Damon into the light of the eclipse and throw him the Ascendant so he could leave and return to the real world in Mystic Falls. If that's not friendship, what is?!

When Damon hugged Mr. Cuddles.

That's how he knew Bonnie was still alive! It was a beautiful moment between vampire and stuffed bear.

When Bonnie returned from 1903.

Of course they reunited over pancakes! When Damon spotted a plate of pancakes on the counter, he looked up and saw Bonnie smiling at him. Then the two shared the most epic hug of all time before Bonnie could show him the video she took of the woman from the 1903 Prison World, AKA his mother Lilly Salvatore.

When Damon saved Bonnie from Kai.

Given the choice to save Bonnie or let Bonnie die and spend the rest of eternity with his true love Elena, Damon chose to save Bonnie -- sending Elena into The Deep Sleep for the next 60 or so years. And he didn't even need to think twice to do it.

When Damon called Bonnie and Alaric his besties.

It doesn't get any more legit that that, people.
