Ariana Grande's 'Focus' Look Had A Surprising Source Of Inspiration

And yes, she might make the look permanent someday.

If you thought Ariana Grande's immense love of Draco Malfoy was the inspiration behind her platinum blonde look for "Focus," well, good guess but that's not the case.

The pop star revealed that she actually wigged up in white for her latest music vid with a much more personal image in mind; she wanted to mimic the look of her grandmother, whom she lovingly refers to as Nonna. D'awwww.

Speaking to ET Online, she explained, "I wanted to do my ponytail in white for a while, or in a different color. I actually was sitting opposite my Nonna and I was like, 'Nonna, I love your white hair. It's so beautiful.'"

And Ari liked how things turned out for her when she traded in her deep brown locks for the brighter look -- so much so that she might give it a more permanent go next time, on one condition.

"I think one day I would totally rock [blonde hair] if they could come up with a miracle bleach that doesn't destroy everything," she said. (We won't hold our breath, but we will cross some fingers.)

Grande also teased that her forthcoming album, Moonlight, will be "full of surprises" and that it "feels like the next version" of herself.

"I feel like I would be compromising my artistry if I didn't keep it honest and true to what I'm going through ... It's my diary. It's self-expression," she explained.
