Leikeli47 is like some kind of masked rap crusader here to dump a bucket of yellow and green all over my dull, gray week. The Brooklyn rapper just dropped Lk-47 Part III (obviously a follow-up to her first two projects) and it's a trip and a half.
"Bitch Switch," for example, is your perfect Monday starter track.
Sh-t starts off cool, you're vibing to some Sade and your train is actually on time (very rare in New York), until someone f--ks it all up, then...switch.
Other standouts include "The A Train," "B.W.A.," and "Banker."
Her flow and beat selection across the tape is impeccable -- lots of nostalgic picks here (s/o to Kelis and Destiny's Child) -- along with those raw, punchy rhymes that often make feel like you're just hanging with one of your homegirls.
Earlier this year, Leikeli47 got some well-deserved shine when her track "F--k the Summer Up" landed in Alexander Wang's SS16 NYFW fashion show. Stay tuned for more.
In the meantime, you can catch her on tour with Tokimonsta from Nov. 9 - 21.
