'Supergirl': 17 Times Kara Was Every 20-Something At Their First Job

Superhero-ing doesn't come with a training manual.

One of the things we like best about "Supergirl"? How Kara (Melissa Benoist) doesn't always get everything right the first time. (Or the second time.) She may be able to fly and have the heart of a hero, but that doesn't mean she isn't accidentally going to become an ecoterrorist. The real world is hard — even for superheroes.

Here are 17 times Kara was every 20-something at their first job...

  1. When you can't figure out what to wear on your first day.

    Is a cape too formal?

  2. And then, you get there, and you have to jump through a million hoops before you get any REAL responsibility.

You have to fill out another form?

  3. Instead, you get the tasks no one else wants.

Oh, no. You love shredding documents.

  4. Still, you FEEL like you're ready.

    Bring on the responsibility.

  5. And then work takes you completely by surprise.

    Never mind! Too much responsibility!

  6. Luckily, you make alliances with the other new kids.

If we're going to survive this, we need to stick together.

  7. And try NOT to start crushing on your co-worker — because it's SUPER complicated.

  8. Besides, you're (still) trying to prove to your family that you know what you're doing.

How many times do you have to say it?

  9. And trying to deal with your ridiculously demanding boss.

Just tell her what she wants to hear, Kara.

  10. And trying not to embarrass yourself TOO badly.

    Everybody loves kitten, right?!

  11. (Even though you totally do...)

  12. But then you finally start trusting your instincts.

We need to paint with all the colors of the wind, you know?

  13. And embracing the person you have always wanted to be.

You are a force to be reckoned with.

  14. And your loved ones tell you how proud they are of you.

    Um, duh.

  15. And it seems like you might finally have this whole work things down.

    Easy peasy.

  16. Because, even when the next thing inevitably goes wrong...

You never know which days are the days you will have to carry a plane on your back.

  17. You've got friends and family and co-workers who can catch you when you fall.

Haven't you heard? Accepting help from someone else is an honor.
