Lil Wayne is no stranger to the art of the mixtape series. In fact, basically all of his tapes are part of one: There's SQ1 through SQ5; Da Drought through Da Drought 3; Dedication through Dedication 5; and Sorry 4 the Wait and Sorry 4 the Wait 2.
Now, one of the few without a sequel -- and one of the best of the whole bunch -- is about to get its follow-up.
"Let's do it...Thxgiving...lets eat!" Tunechi wrote late Sunday night on Twitter, with the cover to the upcoming No Ceilings 2 attached.
The official announcement came just a day after the sixth anniversary of the original, which dropped on Halloween 2009.
This will be Weezy's third free release of the year, as his Tha Carter V album remains in limbo as he continues to sort out issues with his label, Cash Money. In January, he dropped Sorry 4 the Wait 2, and then followed that up in July with his Free Weezy Album.
Meanwhile, Tha Carter V has been delayed for a couple years now, but things took a particularly bad turn back in December, when Weezy called out Birdman and his label on Twitter, saying he had no control over the album's release.
In the months since, the situation has remained unresolved. Wayne is suing the label for $51 million, alleging he hasn't been paid royalties or for turning in his album, among other transgressions.
As we wait for the entire ordeal to get resolved, we'll have No Ceilings 2 to look forward to -- and hopefully more joints like this, from the original.
