The Non-Witches Of 'Hocus Pocus' Reveal Their Fave Memories From The Set

Vinessa Shaw and Thora Birch loved putting a spell on you.

We all know how much the Sanderson sisters still loooove "Hocus Pocus" -- as in, enough to be ready to make a sequel right now, if only Disney would pick up the phone already (and assuming we can locate a virgin to light that damn candle.)

But the movie's central trio of witches weren't the only ones to have a blast putting a spell on you back in 1993. Yes, hard as it is to believe, there were actually other people in "Hocus Pocus," all of whom have fond memories of their time spent together on set.

Among the actors who starred alongside Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Kathy Najimy: Vinessa Shaw, who played Max Dennison's crush, and Thora Birch, who played his bratty kid sister. And since it's that time of year, ABC caught up with both women (and a couple of the movie's men, too) for a little reminiscing -- and a few surprise revelations, including:

  • Sarah Jessica Parker was the good witch.

"I'd talk with Sarah Jessica Parker and she'd ask me if I really loved what I did as an actress," Vinessa Shaw aid. "She'd say, 'It's a wonderful job if you love it.' So, she was just very sweet and curious and made me feel really comfortable."

  • It's still Thora Birch's favorite movie.

"The fact that 'Hocus Pocus' found a niche in that world where it cannot be extricated from the holiday itself to me is really amazing," she said. "I'm really surprised, but humbled and happy to be a part of something like that. I had the best time on that film -- maybe more than any other movie I worked on."

  • You can quote "Hocus Pocus" to Allison IRL, but don't make it weird.

Vinessa Shaw said, "When I grew up, they'd mostly say 'Ohhh, Allison,' but thankfully, they keep the 'Yabbos' comment to themselves."

  • And P.S., the entire movie was infested with cats.

"Dani was in love with the cat," Thora Birch said of her character. "For me, I had an issue whenever the cat came up. There were a number of live cats, animatronic cats -- the thing with the cat was a toss-up. You never knew what would happen."
