10 Things We Learned From Adele's 'First Interview In Forever'

Adele talks her new 25 songs, intimacy and Amy Winehouse.

It's been a big week for Adele.

Mere days ago, the British songstress teased the world with a clip of new music, which turned out to be "Hello," the lead single from her upcoming 25 album (due out Nov. 20). People freaked out about it. People mashed it up with other songs (both wisely and unwisely). On Monday, it beat out Taylor Swift's "Bad Blood" for the most video views in 24 hours.

And then, Adele popped up on the cover of i-D magazine for her very "first interview in forever" to talk about motherhood, give a few peeks into her childhood and, of course, tease 25 even more. Here's what we learned.

  1. She originally "wanted to fix people's hearts."

Adele wanted to be a heart surgeon and studied biology at Balham's Chestnut Grove School in London before turning her focus toward other pursuits -- "fun and boys."

  2. She writes her age down before she writes a new album.

First was 19, then 21, and now 25, all the result of the same process. "I buy a new pad, sniff it -- 'cause smell is important -- and then I get a big, fat sharpie and write my age on the front page," she said. "25 has five exclamation marks after it 'cause I was like, 'How the f--k did that happen?!'"

  3. 25 is not a heartbreak record.

"I definitely wasn't going to write a heartbreak record 'cause I'm not heartbroken, but I probably won't be able to better the one I did, so what's the point?" she said -- and that's all because "I was very sad and very lonely. Regardless of being a mum or a girlfriend, I didn't want to feel like that again."

  4. She actually liked acting in her "Hello" video.

"I had to cry and everything. You know what, I feel like a bit of a c--t after saying for all these years I'd never act, because I really enjoyed it."

  5. "Hello" is case in point why 25 is a make-up, not break-up, record.

"'Hello' is about wanting to be at home and wanting to reach out to everyone I've ever hurt -- including myself -- and apologise for it"

  6. New song "I Miss You" is about "intimacy on every level."

"It's about sex, it's about arguing, one of the most intimate moments in my life. 'Cause you just blurt it out. It's a bit like, a drunk tongue is an honest one. That's definitely my motto, in life. That's why I don't really like drinking no more. The panic you get when you wake up the next morning."

  7. Her Bruno Mars collaboration, "All I Ask," brought out her best vocal power.

"I've never sung so hard in me whole life. Can you imagine the fun me and Bruno had making that?"

  8. Meeting Stevie Nicks made her weep.

"I was sobbing all over her, oh my god. I don't really like crying in front of famous people because it's awkward and it can make them feel really uncomfortable. But I couldn't contain myself."

  9. She misses Amy Winehouse -- just like the rest of us.

"I felt like I was intruding so I actually felt a little bit uncomfortable and that ruined it for me. I love watching her, but I kind of wish I hadn't seen [documentary 'Amy']. But you know, I love Amy. I always have, I always will. Do you know what makes me super sad? That I'm never going to hear her voice again, other than how I've heard it."

  10. She wants to see Britney Spears' Las Vegas show.

"I'd like to tour properly. I'd like to see Britney in Vegas. Dunno about more kids," she said. "I'd like to make records forever with the time I've been given for this one. If I can do that I'll be really f--king happy."
