One Direction Are ‘Very Disappointed’ To Cancel Their First Concert In Five Years

Liam Payne has 'taken ill,' but don't worry -- it's 'not serious.'

Get well soon, Big Payno!

One Direction were forced to cancel their On The Road Again tour date in Belfast, Ireland on Tuesday (Oct. 20) minutes before the foursome were set to hit the stage due to an illness suffered by Liam Payne. This was the first show the band has cancelled in five years.

A very brave man took the stage to break the news to the thousands of Directioners who had already piled in to the SSE Arena where the group was set to perform the first of three nights at the venue.

"Unfortunately, the show tonight has been cancelled as Liam has been taken ill and while it's not serious, he is unable to perform tonight," the representative said to stunned crowd. "Fans have been asked to hold on to their tickets and there will be a further statement tomorrow. The band apologise to their fans and wish Liam well as soon as possible."

Harry Styles took to Twitter shortly after the announcement to say that he was "very disappointed" they had to cancel the show, but that "these things happen."

Louis echoed those sentiments saying that the cancellation was "out of our control," but to send some love to Liam.

Here's a look inside the venue before the announcement where Directioners had their glow sticks ready.

And here they are leaving the venue.

Oh, and to make matters worse...it was raining.

Clearly, fans were disappointed.

But they are wishing Liam a speedy recovery.

They're offering up some hugs.

And one fan even made a new Twitter account as a result of his illness saying that the Directioners need their "batman back."
