Shortly after the pics were published by the New York Daily News, Justin's dad, Jeremy Bieber, took to Twitter and posted, "@justinbieber what do you feed that thing. #proud daddy."
Apparently, Justin was quite amused by the now-deleted post, saying it's just dad being dad.
"I thought it was hilarious. ‘What do you feed that thing?" Justin told radio show Zach Sang & The Gang. "It’s such a dad thing to say."
Many people, including Bette Midler, did not find Justin's dad's comment funny, in fact, they found it pretty offensive.
"When I found out people were hating on him for saying that, I was like, ‘Are you kidding me?’" Justin said. "What dad wouldn’t be proud of that? It’s not like he’s saying it to an 11-year-old. I’m 21 years old.”
The radio show went on to press Justin about the photos, who said they're "not terrible," but he still considers it an invasion of privacy, which is why his team sent a cease and desist letter to the newspaper.
"I wanted to keep that part for me," Justin said. "But I felt like it was a little bit of an invasion and when I first found out about it, my heart sank."
Oh, and in case you're wondering, his "thing" has a name: Jerry, courtesy of his fans
