A 'Degrassi' Co-Creator Denies Kicking Drake Off The Show

Linda Schuyler says Drizzy wasn't kicked off the show.

Yesterday, Drake said he was “kicked off” “Degrassi” because he was forced to choose between his two loves: music and acting. Today, Linda Schuyler — a co-creator and executive producer of “Degrassi” — begged to differ.

“I’m hoping there was just some miscommunication here, because if that’s the perception nothing could make me sadder,” she told BuzzFeed Canada.

Here's the full Drizzy quote from his W Magazine interview.

“That was part of the reason I was kicked off the show. Back then, I’d spend a full day on set and then go to the studio to make music until 4 or 5 a.m. I’d sleep in my dressing room and then be in front of the cameras again by 9 a.m. Eventually, they realized I was juggling two professions and told me I had to choose. I chose this life.”

But Schuyler — who claims the show planned shoots around Drake’s schedule — says that “Degrassi” encouraged Drizzy’s musical endeavors.

“Not only did we know it, we helped him with it,” she explained “His character had run its course, so we were nothing but supportive.”

As we mentioned yesterday, there seems to be no bad blood from Drake about this whole thing...and it looks like there’s none from Schuyler either.

“He’s my boy Aubrey,” she said. “But I’m very proud of Drake.”
