It was 1995, and my brother had a big stereo that we kept on a tall wooden bookshelf we kept in our shared bedroom. Not a fancy stereo -- a single-disc boombox with No Doubt's Tragic Kingdom wedged in the CD player. We played the crap out of "Spiderwebs" and "Sunday Morning" and "Just A Girl," but even as kids, there was no song we dug more than "Don't Speak," the ultimate breakup anthem that's sweet and gut-wrenching all at once.
Even if you didn't own the CD, you definitely heard "Don't Speak" on the radio, especially if you listened to alternative radio, which played it quite regularly. Pop radio loved it even more, and it eventually reached No. 1 on the Billboard Top 40 chart.
Who can deny that "Don't Speak" has a gorgeous singalong chorus and a therefore will remain a karaoke staple likely for decades to come? After all, it's been 20 years already since Tragic Kingdom was released on Oct. 10, 1995. So, how well do you remember it? Take the quiz below to find out.
