8 Nostalgic Halloween Movies You Need To Rewatch On Netflix STAT

Your Netflix queue is about to get longer.

As we're gearing up for Oct. 31, we're arming ourselves with an arsenal of scary horror movies to help get us in the Halloween mood. But sometimes after watching a scary movie, I feel like I need to watch something funny, something that isn't so dark, yet is still in the ~spooky~ genre.

Thankfully, Netflix has me covered. Besides the TV show "Goosebumps," the streaming site has several Halloween-themed films from my childhood I can relive and soak up all the nostalgic feels.

"The Addams Family"

Paramount Pictures

The Addams Family

Based on the classic '60s TV show about a macabre family, the plot focuses around Uncle Fester's disappearance. A couple of family freeloaders try the "get rich quick" scheme, posing as Fester, but naturally, things don't go quite as planned. Also, Wednesday Adams can't stop, won't stop.

"The Nightmare Before Christmas"

Disney

The Nightmare Before Christmas

After Jack Skellington, the Pumpkin King of Halloween Town, accidentally discovers Christmas Town, he decides to change up the same ol' routine and celebrate Christmas instead. However, since he doesn't understand the holiday, he thinks he should improve it. Unfortunately, that doesn't mean good things for dear ol' Santa Claus.

"The Monster Squad"

TriStar Pictures

This beloved '80s film is like "The Goonies" meets "Halloweentown." A group of kids who love everything about monsters, must work together to overpower Dracula, the Wolf Man, the Mummy and the Creature from the Black Lagoon, and stop them from taking over the world. Oh, and Frankenstein's Monster is also around, but he decides to side with the kids over Dracula, because that's just the way the world works.

"Alvin and the Chipmunks Meet the Wolfman"

Universal Studios

Alvin-and-the-Chipmunks-Meet-the-Wolfman

When Theodore is bitten by a werewolf, he slowly begins to turn into one. Assuming their new neighbor Mr. Talbot is responsible, Alvin and Simon try to figure out a way to turn their baby brother back into a human before the window of opportunity closes. There are several toe-tappin' songs that will surely be stuck in your head for days.

"Alvin and the Chipmunks Meet Frankenstein"

Universal Studios

Screen Shot 2015-10-11 at 3.43.55 PM

The Chipmunks are star performers at Majestic Movie Studios, and soon learn Dr. Victor Frankenstein isn't actually planning to prepare his "Frankenstein's Castle" attraction at all. Instead, he's using it to create a creature that will do his evil bidding, whatever that may be. There's also a great scene where Alvin goes batsh-t crazy after being force-fed a potion concocted by Dr. Frankenstein. Also, more insanely catchy songs.

"Mickey's House of Villains"

Disney

Good_vs_bad

Popular Disney villains, led by Jafar (he's our man!), decide to take over Mickey's House of Mouse. They kick out a bunch of the heroes and "good" guys, finally deciding they want to be the stars of the show. Determined to eradicate the evil from his house, Mickey teams up with his friends to fight the good fight and restore order to the Disney world.

"The Haunting Hour: Don't Think About It"

Universal Studios

w964

This film, based on the R.L. Stine story of the same name, stars a young Emily Osment and Cody Linley. After moving to a new town, Cassie (Osment) discovers a book about a two-headed monster that comes to life if someone even thinks about it. Since you just knew someone was going to "think about it," Cassie's little brother Max gets captured and ruins things for everyone. So, Cassie teams up with heartthrob Sean (Linley) to rescue her brother and destroy The Evil Thing, which is apparently what the monster is called.

"Corpse Bride"

Warner Bros.

Corpse Bride

After Victor Van Dort (voiced by Johnny Depp) practices his wedding vows before the big moment, a dead woman overhears him and rises from the grave. Now believing the two are married, she whisks Victor away to the Land of the Dead. He spends a good majority of the film trying to get back to his fiancée, since, you know, he's still alive and all.

Happy Halloween! ?
