Ellie Goulding Is Helplessly In Love On New Track ‘Something In The Way You Move’

There's some underlying darkness to this danceable pop gem.

On the first single from her upcoming album Delirium, Ellie Goulding couldn’t help but wonder “why I got you on my mind.” Now, she seems to have answered that question with “Something In The Way You Move,” an upbeat electro-pop track released on Friday (Oct. 9).

“SITWYM” (which is not a cover of the Beatles’ “Something,” btw) is pure pop bliss, complete with shimmering synths, an earworm chorus and ethereal coos that lend the familiar airy atmosphere Ellie’s known for.

But even though it has a totally danceable vibe, the track’s lyrics are really quite foreboding, as Ellie describes the magnetic but dooming attraction she feels for a certain someone: “But tonight I’m gonna lose it all/ Playing with fire, I was the first to fall/ Heart is sinking like a cannonball/ Baby kill me, what are you waiting for?/ Something in the way you move.”

This is the third taste we’ve gotten of Delirium (out Nov. 6), following lead single “On My Mind” and her smash “Fifty Shades of Grey” song, “Love Me Like You Do.” However, Ellie clarified on Twitter that “SITWYM” is not her new single.

Even so, we can’t help but hope this track will get the video treatment — if only because we’re itching to see what could possibly top riding horses in a casino.
