Nicki Minaj Brings Back Bright Hair For Her 'New York Times' Magazine Shoot

It's been a quick minute since we've seen Nicki Minaj look like the old Nicki Minaj. You know, the one who dressed in crazy colors and costumes and wore even crazier wigs. While we love Nicki's soft, natural look of late, we'd be lying to say we didn't long for a nod back to her old ways.

Luckily, The New York Times heard our cries. Though she doesn't go totally all out, Nicki rocked a fun, different, old-Nicki style for her New York Times Magazine cover. Donning a bright red wig, Nicki manages to look simple but still very much like herself (see: the giant black bow on her skirt).

Nicki previewed the wig on Instagram a few weeks ago, but didn't reveal whether she was dabbling in bright hair colors again IRL or just on set for a shoot.

Then, about a week later, she brought the blunt shape back again, but this time in light pink. Does two in a row mean we're going to see more of this look soon? We can hope, right?

Oh, and if you're thinking of comparing her style evolution and oft-changing appearance to that of one Lady Gaga, Nicki will have no problem cutting you off and setting you straight. When asked if she was inspired by her fellow pop queen, Nicki told the mag, "I don’t even want to discuss that. That’s so old to me."

Which is fair. Nicki's incomparable, with a distinct style all her own. You can read the full interview here.
