OMG Teens Please Stop Lighting Yourselves On Fire

NONONONONONONONONO.

Teens, adults, everyone: Please don't set yourself on fire.

We shouldn't have to tell you this, but some teens are doing exactly that as part of "the fire challenge" -- a trend that is both dangerous and meaningless. Local 10 News in Florida reports, "In cases all over the country, videos show people dousing themselves with a flammable liquid, then setting themselves on fire before putting out the flames."

While some might view this as the fast lane to internet fame (it's not), the challenge has, expectedly, had some serious consequences. Local 10 News reports that Robert Seals, a 15 year-old California resident, recently burned 20% of his body after he "doused himself with rubbing alcohol, then dared a friend to light a match and put it to his clothes." He is now on life support.

Lisa Oliphant, Seal's aunt, witnessed the gruesome ordeal. "All his skin is off, arms peeled, hair burnt," she told Local 10.

According to the outlet, "for the time being, deputies do not plan to arrest the other teen who lit Seals on fire."

TL;DR: Lighting yourself on fire is a terrible idea. Here is an abridged list of things you could do instead:

- Choreograph an interpretive dance routine to Enrique Iglesias' "Hero"

- Literally anything else.
