It's Electric Ladies' night!
Oh my God, not only did Janelle Monáe and M.I.A. share the stage last night at an Audi launch event, but they did it on opposite ends of the coast via hologram. We repeat: VIA HOLOGRAM. Like, we may not have any clue how this Tupac wizardry works, but the future is now and we are ob-SESSED.
And because whatever spiritual force controls the universe is dead set on giving us a heart attack, M.I.A. performed a never-before-heard verse during "Q.U.E.E.N.," and Janelle returned the favor by tackling part of "Bad Girls" with her signature brand of cyber-tronic pep. Literally, is there a defibrillator in the house? Halp.
Q.U.E.E.N.s on Q.U.E.E.N.s on Q.U.E.E.N.s on Q.U.E.E.N.s on...
Wait... Badass rock-star ladies? Holograms? The Electric Lady and Ms. Mathangi absolutely MUST get cast in that new, live-action "Jem & The Holograms" movie that Scooter Braun announced recently. You hear that, Scooter? Our inner, pastel pink-obsessed child of the '80s will not rest until such flawless action is taken. #GameFace
Just imagine: Janelle could play the titular role -- Starlight Music owner Jerrica Benton by day, pink-haired pop diva Jem by night! Oh, and M.I.A. could totally play Pizzazz, the tough-as-nails leader of rival band, The Misfits. (BRB, imagining our dream cast absolutely slaying the eternally iconic "Click Clash.") This is your mission, Scooter. You know what you must do.
