Cody Simpson’s New Song, ‘Surfboard,’ Has Us Grainin’ On That Wood Like Beyonce

We be all night — er I mean, we really like with Cody’s new song!

At first, Cody Simpson’s new song, “Surfboard,” sounds like it totally could’ve been a Beach Boys-inspired “lost track” or something from his second studio album, Surfers Paradise. It’s easy and breezy, what with our cover boy spotting a cute-looking Cali girl on the beach who he wants to “hang ten” with.

Just then, with a grunt and a “Wipe Out“-style riff, Cody dives headfirst into the chorus, and — OMFG! — has the “Love” singer ever grown up. (Not like those recent shirtless photos said any different.) Like, Cody straight-up sings “She on my surfboard-board-board” over and over again like a “Beach Blanket Bingo” BAWSE.

Considering how obsessed we are with that #SURFBOARDT lyric from Beyoncé’sDrunk In Love“…

…this hook is CLEARLY doing A LOT for us right now. (As if you even had to ask.) I mean, it’s like the “Dancing With The Stars” contestant laid this track down JUST so that we’d whip up some insane mash-up GIF! Well, Cody, consider your wish granted.

Anyway, as if this momentous day in Cody Simpson history couldn’t get any better, it turns out that there’ll be some sort of accompanying visual dropping tomorrow to tide us over until a proper “Surfboard” video comes out. Until then, we’ll be over here with Taylor Swift getting #SURFBOARDT #LIFE from this song.
