Life = gotten. Listen to Chromeo's new dance track, "Jealous (I Ain't With It)."
From the opening riff of Chromeo's "Jealous (I Ain't With It)," it's clear that the Canadian duo have set the coordinates of their electrofunk time machine to land directly at the top of the pop charts.
There's less winking irony here than their previous White Women tracks, like the boogie-down "Sexy Socialite" or the chilled-out #swag of "Come Alive" with Toro y Moi. Lest you think you're too cool to let loose, the song launches a two-pronged attack of popping funk bass and synth riffs, which basically means that the battle of you against the dance floor has already been won. #sorry
Is there a subliminal message embedded deep within "Jealous (I Ain't With It)," imploring us to get up and move? Even our non-conspiratorial side thinks so. Groove aside, there's a familiar story in the song: "I get jealous, but I’m too cool to admit it," they sing. "When the fellas talk to my girl, I ain't with it." Been there, Chromeo.
The track sounds like the type of breezy, acoustic guitar lead-in to a Katy Perry number, and we're not complaining! After years on the steady climb, dropping indelible, irresistible nuggets of danceable goodness since 2004's She's In Control, the dudes are not messing around anymore. Blow this thing up, brahs!
