#tbt: We’re Thankful For These Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade Photos Of Miley, Kanye, Justin + More!

She may not have twerked it, but Miley definitely werked the 2008 parade.

Ah, Thanksgiving, one of the most beautiful days of the year! You get to moderately sleep in, have a late lunch/ early dinner the size of seven late lunches/ early dinners, and cap it all off with an hour of crunches! Sorry, “crunches” are what we call extra crispy slices of pecan pie to keep ourselves from weeping at the table. #DontCryOutLoud

While there’ll be plenty of TV specials tonight to keep you entertained in your near-unconscious food coma state — like Lady Gaga’s “Muppets Holiday Spectacular” on ABC and Mary J. Blige’s “A Mary Christmas” on Revolt TV — here’s another serving of pop gold to satisfy you: our favorite Throwback Thursday performance photos from the iconic Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade featuring Miley Cyrus, Kanye West, Justin Timberlake in his *NSYNC days, and even super #TBT faves, New Kids On The Block!!!!

Let’s begin at the beginning — or, at least 2008 — when the “Wrecking Ball” belter sang the Golden Globe-nominated “I Thought I Lost You” on the parade’s “Bolt“-themed float. OK, so, call us crazy, but we feel like there are a lot of insane parallels between this performance and Miley’s VMA twerk-fest with Robin Thicke. Like, if you can get beyond the scarf, hat, long hair, and, uh, pants, whaddya have? A high-energy performer doing her thing in front of giant, bug-eyed animals.

Grumpy Gus wished you a dour Glums-giving with a side of HARUMPH in 2010.

Flash forward two years, and we arrive at Kanye’s 2010 performance of “Lost In The World.” While we think he did a great job and his float actually looked remarkably artist-appropriate — those colors are STRAIGHT off of the cover of My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy — we’ve gotta be honest and say that neither the “Bound 2” rapper nor any of the brilliant tracks off of that genius album make the best fit for the parade. Like, look at those waving Statues of Liberty beneath him. I meeeeeeeeeeeean, come on.

Oh, heavens! The youths took over the M&M’s float in five-part harmony in 1998!

Oooooooooh my god, and then there’s this nugget of pop history that, much like actual bubblegum, you’ll never feel like you’re fully able to digest. OK, so before Justin Timberlake was gettin’ murdered in his “TKO” video, he was in perhaps the greatest boy band of all time, *NSYNC. (Apparently, some people don’t know this. BRB, SHRIVELING INTO A BALL OF OLD IN THE CORNER.)

Anyway, here they are performing “Tearin’ Up My Heart” in 1998, which is ironic because it’s tearin’ up my heart in any year ever and forever. (BTW, what’s irony? Asking for a friend.)
