There's that smile!
What's one part Tim Burton, two parts Marilyn Manson, baked in the oven for 20 minutes at 375 degrees, and covered in a layer of H. P. Lovecraft brand fondant? Duh, it's Lady Gaga's "Dope"-inspired red carpet getup at this past Sunday's YouTube Music Awards. (We also would have accepted "what you see when you stare directly into the void of a fiery, sulfur-laden hellscape," but whatevs.)
Bringing her terrifying "Dope" cover art to life, Gaga skulked through the ceremony and even performed a live rendition of the promotional ARTPOP single, which was released not long after. Before we get to the new track, let's take a second to break down every visual element of Mother Monster's rather monstrous look -- because if I learned one thing from watching "The Squid And The Whale" this weekend, it's that you've got to stop covering your eyes and face your fears... even if it's a million times more frightening than a diorama at the Natural History Museum.
There's definitely a major Tim Burton influence on Gaga -- think the snake from "Beetlejuice."
That skeletal grill and #AllBlackEverything also remind us of Scarecrow as he appeared in "The New Batman Adventures."

Then there's the hat. Anyone else getting MAJOR Marilyn Manson vibes?
For that matter, what about Justin Bieber?? We're pretty sure he's got a ticket to ride the wide-brim black hat express.
But, the no pants and insanely high platform heels? Why, that's pure Gaga.
... Much like "Dope"! Although the song's low rumbling sound marks it as one of the "Do What U Want" singer's least flashy numbers, it's still authentically Gaga.
