Careful now, boys.
One minute you're on top of the world with fans clamoring for your autograph, and the next they're smashing your papier-mâché head in with a baseball bat. This classic rock 'n' roll success story lies at the center of Sleeping With Sirens' "Congratulations" video, which shows what happens when your head gets too big.
Watch Sleeping With Sirens' "Congratulations" video featuring Matty Mullins after the jump.
The Orlando post-hardcore four-piece get an assist in detailing the ups and downs of fame courtesy of a fellow Rise Records artist, Matty Mullins of Memphis May Fire. "Congratulations, they say you're the man," Sirens' Kellin Quinn sings. "Oh yes I am," Mullins answers on the grinding, metal funk screamer off of their third studio album, Feel.
That album went to No. 3 on the Billboard 200 chart, so maybe things are starting to, you know, go to their heads, as it were?
Probably not, at least based on the sense of humor they showcase in the video directed by Drew Russ, who has also done videos for All Time Low, Pierce The Veil, and A Day To Remember. Here, Russ has fun with the idea of what it's like to be in a band, and casts the musicians as their own fans.
Stanning their hearts out, the guys freak out when they come across their larger-than-life rock star replicas, who turn out not to be the nicest people. Pushing down old ladies, kicking the food out of a homeless guy's mouth -- yikes! Who have these guys been touring with?
"Rockstars Offends the City" reads the headline on the fake news channel in the video -- typo and all. But, as most bands eventually learn, their reign of terror doesn't last forever.
