Lady Gaga's about to flip sex and gender roles on their head -- plz RT!
Last night, Lady Gaga took to Twitter to feed her Little Monsters a few more tantalizing scraps from her upcoming third studio album, ARTPOP (out Nov. 11). No, she didn't release the follow-up single to "Applause" -- that's "Venus," FYI, and it won't drop until Oct. 27 -- but Gaga did reveal a 12-second snippet of "G.U.Y.," which stands for "Girl Under You."
Taking cues from the Lady's disco-meets-EDM beginnings and gender-bending, David Bowie-obsessed roots, "G.U.Y." is giving us A LOT to excitedly obsess over. And, if you know anything about us, you betta believe that we're about to count the ways.
1. THIS BEAT IS SICK: From the synth instrumental to the vocal fry Sprechgesang, this latest ARTPOP track is giving us some serious flashbacks to "LoveGame," and really The Fame-era Gaga in general! BRB, compelled to ride the nearest disco stick -- jazz hands and all.
2. GUYS WILL BE GIRLS: So, let's get this straight: "G.U.Y." stands for "Girl Under You," which means that when Gaga sings "I wanna be the girl under you" or "I wanna be that guy," she's claiming both gender roles at once in some never-ending, Ouroboros-like infinite loop of gender-bending sexual negotiation? Cool.

3. UNDERGRADS, START YOUR THESES: Along with the blurred gender lines, Mother Monster makes ambiguous who plays the dominant and submissive roles in bed. Even though she wants to be "under" her lover, she also wants to be the one "that makes [him/her] cry." To paraphrase Rihanna, #Ph*ckYoFoucault!
4. PLZ RT: Bringing the "Dance, sex, art, pop, tech" lyric from "Aura" to life, Gaga merges her public life online with her private life behind closed doors. "Love me/ Love me/ Please retweet" seems pretty fitting for the third most-followed person on Twitter.
