Avril walks you through the letting go process in her new song.
Swooping in to heal the heartache, Avril Lavigne's new duet with husband Chad Kroeger of Nickelback titled "Let Me Go" off of her forthcoming self-titled album offers all the emotional guidance you may need in a fragile post-breakup state.
It should go without saying that if you cross the line into pins-in-the-voodoo-doll territory, you should probably go see, like, a human professional, but for your average "got dumped"/ "FML" misery, Avril's got your back.
Listen to Avril Lavigne's "Let Me Go" featuring Chad Kroeger after the jump.
Beginning in a relationship that's clearly past its prime, the "Rock N Roll" singer describes getting out while she still has a chance. "I'm breaking free from these memories/ Gotta let it go, just let it go/ I've said goodbye, set it all on fire/ Gotta let it go, just let it go," she decisively cries.
Then, following hubby Chad's verse, Avril's lyrics take on a revitalizing new meaning. Now, the whole "scorched Earth" approach to letting go of bad memories carries with it the promise of beginning anew with another. Cue #AllTheAws. Ready? AWWWWWWWWW! (Don't worry, it was a punk aw.)
