Sky Ferreira's getting a little, shall we say, picky.
Although Sky Ferreira getting arrested last week may not have been her finest hour, the dazzling new video for "You're Not The One" is an instant reminder of why we fell in love with the ethereal-looking pop singer in the first place.
The song, which has been a high point in Sky's live set for the past year or so, seems like a good sign that the always-forthcoming, never-quite-here Night Time, My Time LP will finally be ready to go this October. The video, like the song, is a blend of disaffected cool and heart-on-sleeve emoting.
Watch Sky Ferreira's "You're Not The One" after the jump.
"You're Not The One," produced by Ariel Rechtshaid (Vampire Weekend), is a rousing, throwback-y, lovelorn banger of glistening synths and crunching guitars, while the Grant Singer-directed clip finds Sky in her element: in the dim glow of night, posing for the camera, and not looking like she necessarily enjoys it. "It's the middle of the night, and I'm so gone," she sings into the glow of a bright lamp while mysterious onlookers watch her every move. "And I'm thinking about how much I need you, but you really want somebody else."
The video follows Sky throughout an eerily lit club, down its empty back corridors, and into the sort of flickering laser light show that disco robots in the '80s would feel at home in. Wait, now she's pointing an ice pick at the dude. Hold on, gotta go watch what happens next....
SHE STABBED A DUDE IN THE NECK. Oh, but he didn't die? No, they're making out. Hmmm, that could be what you call symbolism right there.
Sky will be on tour with Smith Westerns starting in November, where hopefully no one will get stabbed.
