Don't miss CHVRCHES live tonight!
One of our up-and-coming faves, CHVRCHES, are slated to perform at MTV Hive's Artist To Watch Live event, which you'll be able to stream on MTV Hive tonight at 10 p.m. ET! Hopefully you're familiar with the Glaswegian synth-pop trio, but just in case you're not totally up to speed, allow us to fill you in!
Last night, we met up with bandmates Lauren, Martin, and Iain to chat about everything from recording their debut LP, The Bones Of What You Believe (out Sept. 23), to their thoughts on Photoshopping cats' faces onto human bodies (obvs in favor). So, without further ado, here are seven crucial reasons why you need to watch CHVRCHES' Artist To Watch Live show tonight and/ or generally be as obsessed with them as we are.
1.) THEY ARE PRO CAT PHOTOSHOPPING: After stating that the group handles their own Facebook and Twitter accounts, Lauren explained: "We've gotta have a place to put pictures of us Photoshopped with cats on our heads."
Well, y'all came to the right place. Perhaps you're familiar with our obsession with Photoshopping cats onto famous people's heads? (Hay, One Direction!) We figured that we'd give CHVRCHES another flawlessly Photoshopped GEM to add to their collection.
2.) THEY SWEAT FOR THEIR ART: Apparently, Lauren, Martin, and Iain's final The Bones Of What You Believe recording session took place in a grungy motel room in El Paso, Texas. To get the sound right on "By The Throat," they had to shut off the A/C, and (SPOILER ALERT) Texas is hot.

3.) THEY HAVE NO FEAR: The rest of their debut album was recorded in what they describe as the "dodgy" party of Glasgow. Umm, we're pretty sure that we can't even handle a ladybug, much less their fear-motivated power-walk home from the train every night. Literally us, all the time, always:
4.) THEY ARE PERFECTIONISTS: "The Mother We Share," a fan favorite and 5 Must-Hear Pop Songs alum, was recorded and re-recorded and remixed over and over again for months. "It seemed too simple at first," Lauren revealed. "An early version of the song sounded like Alphabeat on crack."
5.) THEY DREAM BIG: When we asked, the trio told us that their biggest dream would probably be a Q&A with Nardwuar the Human Serviette, the elusive and extremely, er, unorthodox celebrity interviewer who's kicked it with everyone from Lady Gaga to Drake. Wait, "unorthodox" is Québécois for "cray-cray," right? Cool.
6.) THEY ARE SUPER INTO R&B AND HIP-HOP: Speaking of Drake, Martin told us that he loves "Just Hold On We're Going Home," along with a lot of Kendrick Lamar's tracks. "The album's really a melting pot of everything we're into," he said. Ummm, can somebody please hook us up with a mashup of "Recover" and "Just Hold On We're Going Home," like, stat?!

7.) THEY ARE VINYL DEVOTEES: "We're one of those bands who believes that vinyl isn't dead," Lauren revealed. "We spent a lot of time getting vinyl right for this album." The band even released 500 pressings of bootleg vinyl -- many of which ended up on eBay. WELL, LOOKY HERE! Only $75, y'all!
So, are you as obsessed with CHVRCHES as we are now? Good! We'll see you tonight -- and don't be late!
