DJ Khaled calls on Nicki Minaj, Rick Ross, and Future for "I Wanna Be With You."
When DJ Khaled first teamed up with Rick Ross, Nicki Minaj, and Future on "I Wanna Be With You," off his upcoming Suffering From Success disc (out Sept. 24), there's no way he could've know that the first thing we'd think of was, well, Mandy Moore's 2000 pop jam of the same name, "I Wanna Be With You." (You know, remember that pretty lady who sang the criminally underrated "Candy"??)
Anyway, you'll be glad to know that Nicki Minaj's wannabe husband's new record sounds very little like Mandy's soft pop ballad, but it does sound like a well-polished rap song with a hooky pop chorus that's 100 percent ready for radio. Just in case you had any doubts.
Listen to DJ Khaled's "I Wanna Be With You" featuring Future, Rick Ross, and Nicki Minaj after the jump.
Produced by Lee On The Beats, "I Wanna Be With You" is a smooth, slinky track that sees Khaled lamenting about fame while simultaneously telling his broad (Nicki!!) that she's the one: "Suffering From Success/ You witnessing greatness.../ I'm the best that ever did it -- I wanna be with you." Future's robotic hook comes next, as he explains, "Ballin' on you too easy/ Splurgin' on you too easy/ Buyin' purses too easy/ Payin' bills too easy." OK, we totally get that splurging on purses is "too easy" (p.s. I'M THE NICE GIRL YOU SHOULD BUY THINGS FOR), but we get that restraint is occasionally necessary. Like, maybe six Chanel bags instead of 12.
