Nickelodeon no more! Ariana Grande is pop’s latest newcomer.
So, Ariana Grande! She’s kind of quietly slaying the pop music game, and we think it’s time to shout her out for it. Sure, you probably recognize Ariana’s GORGEOUS face from her starring role as Cat Valentine on Nickelodeon’s “Victorious” OR perhaps from Justin Bieber’s “Die In Your Arms” video. (You might also know her as the lucky lady who used to date our No. 1 face crush, Australian MTV star Jai Brooks). Finally, we’re sure you remember “Popular Song,” Ariana’s theatrical collaboration with Mika. Now, Ariana’s calling on Mac Miller for an assist on the sultry “The Way,” which, by the way (PUN INTENDED! We’re so clever), currently holds the No. 1 spot on the iTunes chart.

Slated to appear on Ariana’s forthcoming debut album, Daydreamin’ (release date TBA), “The Way” is twerking with some vaguely early ’00s-influenced R&B vibes (anyone else hearing an updated version of Jennifer Lopez and Ja Rule’s classic “I’m Real”?). Mac Miller opens the track with his laid-back flow, spitting rhymes about his new lady love: “Say, I’m thinking ’bout her every second, every hour/ Do my singing in the shower/ Picking petals off of flowers like/ Do she love me, do she love me not?” Ariana’s crystal clear pipes chime in next on the radio-ready hook: “I love the way you make me feel/ I love it, I love it.” And so do we! Better keep one eye on Ariana — she may very well be the hottest pop newcomer in the game.
