Watch Hunter Hayes perform "Wanted" and "Somebody's Heartbreak."
Not to sound like a horror movie, but we totally knew where you were at 7 p.m. ET this evening. If you were smart, you were probably parked in front of your laptop watching Hunter Hayes give an EXTENSIVE (and totally charming) interview and perform "Wanted" and "Somebody's Heartbreak" on "Hunter Hayes: Live From The MTV Newsroom." And if for some ridiculous reason you WEREN'T watching Hunter's MTV special, you're in luck: You can watch him sing "Wanted" and "Somebody's Heartbreak" right here (or rewatch it several hundred times -- "pause" and "play" buttons exist for a reason).
Watch Hunter Hayes perform "Wanted" and "Somebody's Heartbreak" on "Hunter Hayes: Live From The Newsroom" after the jump.
In addition to performing live, acoustic renditions of his two singles, the MTV "Artist To Watch" singer-songwriter was the very picture of down-to-earth, sensitive, articulate, and honestly, a tad self-deprecating as he fielded fan questions and chatted with MTV News' Christina Garibaldi. As he spoke, we learned how surprised Hunter was at his three Grammy nominations, how he would love to have dinner with his idol Stevie Wonder (nice choice), how he wouldn't mind collaborating with Katy Perry, and how he's been in the studio working on some new material (!!).
Hunter's acoustic prowess was also on full display as he strummed the melodies to "Wanted" and "Somebody's Heartbreak" -- and WE ARE TELLING YOU, that guy can PLAY. Yep, you heard it here first -- we're canceling all of our plans for the next month to follow Hunter on tour with Carrie Underwood, but first we'll be praying nightly to the Grammy Gods that Hunter wins the Best New Artist award this Sunday night. Nothing against any of the other nominees, but a Hunter win would be the absolute thing we... "wanted." (HAD TO!)
