New Video: I The Mighty, 'Dancing On A Tightrope'

Hey, girl -- San Francisco punks I The Mighty are just looking out for you. The band gets their Gosling on in the video for "Dancing On A Tightrope," a speaker-shattering track about life on the edge. "The title of the song is a metaphor for living life with reckless abandonment," singer Brent Walsh told the Alternative Press. "The song itself was inspired by a friend of mine, who does just that." The lyrics are more direct: "I can't help it, I won't let you bury yourself," he sings on the chorus, which comes with an avalanche of electric guitars.

But maybe she doesn't need the help: The video blends performance footage with watching Walsh's (actress) ex bail on him at a party before she hits the beach to set their relationship memorabilia on fire. The moment's almost as sizzling as the track, which offers not one, but two bridges over its three-and-a-half minutes. Songwriting!

The en fuego sound's more aggressive than the band's poppier 2010 release, the "Hearts and Spades" EP, but it fits like a well-worn pair of skinny jeans. I The Mighty's latest, the "Karma Never Sleeps" EP, is out now, with the band hitting the road in May for the "Great American Roar" tour with Ice Nine Kills, Close To Home and label mates For All I Am.
