You have to question respect Ruben Studdard's unique approach to naming his songs with specific dates and years like they're journal entries (see: "Sorry 2004"). Actually, it's a really good thing -- when that tough Trivial Pursuit ("American Idol" Edition) question pops up asking the day Studdard became available again, you'll be able to answer with the name of his new single and video, "June 28th (I'm Single)."

It's been nine years (that's 2003, fellow number lovers) since Ruben won "American Idol," and while he may have been lucky in his career, the soulful singer seems to be having a hard time in the everlasting love department. The video opens with Ruben decked out in a tuxedo reminiscing about the day he got married over what reminds us of The Temptations' "My Girl" beat. After his marriage fails, bro's not going to let his new solo status keep him down, proudly announcing that he's get back in the game: "Now it's official/Ladies, I'm single/So when you see me on the street, don't be scared to be speak/I'm gonna need another lady." We know the perfect (and also recently single) girl for him -- Katy Perry! (Too soon?)

"June 28th (I'm Single)" is from Ruben's forthcoming Letters From Birmingham album, dropping in March.
