The Red Hot Chili Peppers' new video, "Look Around" -- from their I'm With You album -- kind of looks like an Ikea commercial if Ikea sold drum sets and spray paint, and offered decorating ideas for your next "Tattoos & Underwear" party.
Lead singer Anthony Kiedis kicks off the frenetic video with a dancey spin before the cameras quickly pan to separate rooms where each bandmate is hanging out. Bassist Flea grinds with a blue-haired gal in a bedroom, where they eventually strip down, roll around and fight with silly string (obvs). Drummer Chad Smith throws down beats, punches and plunges in a bathroom, while new guitarist Josh Klinghoffer (who replaced longtime member John Frusciante) alternates between playing guitar, reading and chilling -- he has the "Zen" room. The shots are dizzily interspersed with Kiedis dancing (if that's what it's called) and singing with a woman who crawls out of a fridge as the camera spins between rooms. It's as fun and confusing to watch as it looks like it was to make it.
As for the four static cameras? The Red Hot Chili Peppers plan to release a video soon where the viewer can pick one room to follow, à la those famous "Choose Your Own Adventure" books (!).
